Admissions

Admission to Government Polytechnic, Nellore is conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET), Andhra Pradesh, based on the candidate’s performance in the POLYCET (Polytechnic Common Entrance Test) conducted annually by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Candidates who have passed the SSC (10th Class) examination or an equivalent qualification recognized by the State Government are eligible for admission. Admissions are made strictly on merit basis through centralized counselling conducted by SBTET, with reservations as per Government norms.

Seats remaining vacant after web counselling are filled through SPOT admissions, which are carried out by the institution based on merit in AP POLYCET / SSC, following the rules prescribed from time to time.

In addition to regular admissions, lateral entry admissions are available for candidates who have completed ITI or Intermediate (Vocational) courses, allowing direct entry into the second year of the diploma programme.

Both boys and girls who satisfy the prescribed eligibility conditions and wish to pursue diploma courses in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer and Commercial Practice (CCP) are eligible for admission.
